Early Neurological Stimulation

The Early Neurological Stimulation Programme consists of five stimulating exercises to be done to each puppy individually every day from 3 to 16 days old. There is a PDF document at the bottom of this page to the paper on Early Neurological Stimulation written by Dr. Carmen Battaglia of Breeding Better Dogs.

The stimulating exercises are as follows;

1. Tactical stimulation (between toes)

2. Head held erect

3. Head pointed down

4. Supine position

5. Thermal stimulation.

These exercises are designed to stimulate the puppy’s neurological system by challenging it to respond earlier than would be normally expected, the result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in the puppy’s performance and health.

Early Neurological Stimulation creates dogs with greater tolerance to stress, greater resistance to disease, better nerve ending connections, more neural pathways and stronger heartbeats.
